Welcome
Bruno Alfieri Editore is the Milan-based publishing house, heir to the Alfieri Edizioni d’Arte founded in Venice by Vittorio A. Alfieri back in 1939.
In 80 years the company has published many magazines and almost one thousand books of special editorial quality devoted to the visual arts. Among the former, we cannot forget ‘Arte Veneta’ (1947-), ‘La Biennale di Venezia’ (1950-1956), ‘Metro’ (avant-garde art, 1960-1973), ‘Pagina’ (graphics, 1962-1964), ‘Lotus’ (architecture, 1963-1973); with the Automobilia imprint ‘Le Grandi Automobili’ (car design, 1983-2005), ‘Ferrarissima’ (Ferrari cars, 1984-2006); ‘Zuffenhausen’ (Porsche cars, 2005-2006). On behalf of the Palais des Beaux-Arts of Brussels Bruno Alfieri Editore published ‘Quadrum’ (avant-garde art, 1955-1960) and with Adriano Olivetti ‘Zodiac’ (architecture, 1957-1963) both edited by Bruno Alfieri.
The firm has managed the editorial side of many important art events: the catalogues of the Biennale (1948-1952) and of the great exhibitions held in Venice at Ca’ Rezzonico, Palazzo Grassi, Museo Correr, Palazzo Vendramin Calergi.
Particular attention has been given to the publication of fundamental Catalogues raisonnés devoted to Piero Dorazio, Osvaldo Licini, Giuseppe Santomaso, Giorgione, Pietro Longhi, Francesco Guardi, Jacopo Tintoretto, Gaspare Diziani, Sebastiano Ricci, Michelangelo Grigoletti, Francesco Zuccarelli and several others.
The building of the publications has been carried out with the collaboration of great consultants and of the most authoritative art historians such as Sergio Bettini, Carlo Ludovico Ragghianti, Giulio Carlo Argan, Federico Zeri, Paolo D’Ancona, Antonio Morassi, Rodolfo Pallucchini, Terisio Pignatti, Aldo Rizzi and Lionello Puppi. Artists and graphic designers Bruno Munari, Massimo Vignelli, Leo Lionni, Bob Noorda, Pietro Consagra, Piero Dorazio, Michele Provinciali, Ennio Lucini, Roberto Sambonet, Heinz Waibl e Pierluigi Cerri have contributed to many publications.
